The armed forces of the United States and the Philippines conclude the largest-ever joint military exercises between the two allies.

Nearly 18,000 troops have taken part in the annual exercises -- dubbed Balikatan or "shoulder to shoulder" in Tagalog -- which include live-fire drills to sink a ship.
