Myanmar will temporarily suspend the vehicle import permits starting next month to reduce the use of foreign currencies, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

Under the order, the suspension will be applied to the individual car import permissions, old vehicle replacement program and import permissions for car showrooms and sale centers, the ministry said in a statement.

Individual car import permissions for government officials and public service personnel will also be suspended, the statement added.
