On the morning of 29 August there was a march against the military regime where people held up banners saying: "Build with the people's arms, march with a united force".

The march was organised by the Yangon Township strike committees in collaboration with student unions and the General Strikes Committee (GSC).

Previously on 27 August, the Burma Youth Revolutionary Force (BYRF), student Unions and Yangon’s rebels strike committee (YRSC) also organised an anti-junta protest.
