Yangon’s Kyi Myin Daing Township administrator's house and car bombed

Urban guerrillas threw grenades at the house of the Kyi Myin Daing Township administrator, Myint Htwe, and blew up his car with a remote-controlled mine on Thayat Taw 5 Road in Yangon’s Kyi Myin Daing Township.

The operation was carried out because Myint Htwe was supporting the Military Council and involved in the arrests of protesters, according to the officer who led the attack.

The administrator's home and car were damaged in the attack and the guerrillas who conducted the attack were able to retreat without any casualties.

Since the military coup, people who support the Military Council and those who work for them as administrators have been killed on an almost daily basis. Yangon guerrilla groups have also issued warnings that they cannot guarantee the lives of administrators unless they resign from their jobs.

Pro-military administrators often arrest and detain innocent people. They visit people’s houses and frequently arrest guests and household owners for not listing guests on their household list of a home’s current occupants. By law, any household head has to immediately inform the authorities of any guest who has come to visit overnight and add the guest to their household list. Though this law has been in place for many years it was not so rigidly enforced in the years prior to the coup.

Attacks target Pro-military administrators because they work with police to track down those who oppose and resist the Military Council. Their names are added to the lists of people who are responsible for the arrest and torture of young revolutionaries and they are dealt with accordingly.
