YGH receives 914 emergency ward patients and six dead during Thingyan

Yangon General Hospital (YGH) Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Khin Theingi Myint said on April 18 that the hospital received 914 patients and six of them died during the 2019 Thingyan festival.

The Thingyan death toll was 18 last year and this year it was only six so the figure declined by two thirds but YGH admitted only Thingyan related 810 patients last year and this figure reached 914 this year so this figure rose by more than 100.

Among Thingyan patients the causes of injuries were car accidents, motorcycle accidents, other traffic related accidents, drowning, electrocution and other injuries and one of them was reportedly killed by drowning in water.

Out of these 914 emergency ward patients received by RGH this year, over 600 patients were admitted as outdoor patients and 312 were admitted as indoor patients.
