After months of a thorough nomination process and comprehensive site visits by an independent panel of judges, the shortlist for the inaugural annual Myanmar Property Awards has been announced according to a 20 May press release.
The Myanmar Property Awards 2015 are part of the Asia Property Awards, the biggest real estate awards programme in the region and will feature 22 awards for the best developer, developments, and design in the local real estate sector, covering residential, office, hotel, serviced and even renovated properties.
“With the inclusion of Myanmar in our decade-old Asia Property Awards series, we can be certain that one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting and emerging real estate markets will be properly recognised and showcased to the world,” said Terry Blackburn, CEO of Ensign Media and publisher of Asia’s industry leading Property Report magazine.
“We are honoured to have received overwhelming support from local developers, architects and designers in Myanmar, as well as from our highly-qualified central panel of judges and our local representative MDL Company, who have worked extremely hard to ensure that we have had high quality entrants across all categories,” he added.
Led by chair Richard Emerson of Savills Myanmar, the esteemed panel of judges has shortlisted three of the country’s leading real estate firms for the year’s top honour for the Best Developer category, in which established companies SPA Myanmar and Naing Group will be pitted against up-and-coming developer Green Vision.
Contenders in the top developments and design awards include multiple nominees The Shangri-La Residence, Star City, and The Infinity, whilst a strong shortlist of developments in the office and hotel categories will also vie for the corresponding architectural and interior design awards.
This year’s final Winners and Highly Commended companies and projects will be presented with their respective trophies and certificates at The Sule Shangri-La Yangon on Wednesday, 17 June.
All the top winners in Myanmar will then be showcased on a regional stage and compete at the Asia Property Awards grand finals on Wednesday, 21 October, at the fifth annual South East Asia Property Awards 2015 to be held at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.
With support from top regional and local media, including Property Report, The Myanmar Times, Mizzima News, The Irrawaddy, Crossroads, Myanmar Banking & Finance Magazine, House.com.mm and iMyanmarHouse.com, the Awards will also be receiving tremendous support from two of the country’s top business associations, the Australia-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and the British Chamber of Commerce Myanmar.
