Myanmar nationals charged with attempted murder in Singapore

Two Myanmar nationals and one Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) were charged with one count each of abetment by conspiracy to commit murder according to a report by Channel News Asia on 24 June.

The Myanmar nationals are Yae Wynnt Oaung, 32, and Phyo Min Naing, 31. The PR is Zaw Min Hlaing, 37.

The trio, together with Win Kyaw Kyaw Aung alias Aung Aung, allegedly intended to kill Singapore PR Aye Maung Maung Thet last Saturday.

Aung Aung, Zaw Min Hlaing and Phyo Min Naing then attempted to abduct the victim on Sunday at about 9.30pm in a multi-storey carpark at Blk 747A, PasirRis Street 71. In the process of doing so, Zaw Min Hlaing and Phyo Min Naing allegedly hurt the victim by assaulting and using a Taser on him.

Police arrested the trio on Monday. They also seized items such as a meat mincer, chainsaw, kitchen knives, gas cooker, gas cylinder tank, a tool set, trolley bags, plastic sheets, cable ties, cleaver, aprons, chopping board and rubber boots.

The three accused will be remanded pending further investigations. The case will be heard next on 1July. They face a maximum sentence of 14 years' jail and are also liable to a fine.

Police said they are looking for 29-year-old Aung Aung. He is believed to have left Singapore on Monday morning.
