International Regatta being held at Ngwe Saung beach

An International Yachting Race organized by Myanmar Yachting Federation is being held at Ngwe Saung beach in Ayeyarwady Region.

129 athletes from 16 nations are participating. The first day of this event began on November 12 but it was delayed because of calm winds.

Yachting athlete and local resident from Ngwe Saung Lwin Ko Ko Htet said, “Today’s race could not happen because of very low wind. We are doing training for this race as we want to win in it.”

Most of the participating countries are from Asia and Pacific Oceania such as Australia, China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, New Zealand, Omen, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taipei and Thai and from North America region, Canada and United States of America.

18 athletes from Myanmar are also participating in the race and the youngest one is only 11.

The youngest athlete in this race Thandar Aung said, “I trained for about a year for this race. All of us did our best.”

Myanmar hosts this yachting race at Ngwe Saung Yacht Club under the leadership of Myanmar Yachting Federation.
